Transportation within Batanes

	Upon your arrival in Basco, there are several jeepneys plying the Basco-Mahatao-Ivana-Uyugan-Itbud route. You could also rent the jeepneys to drive you around the island, rent prices starts from around P1,600 per day (as of December 2001) which includes the services of the driver to drive the jeepney.

If you are staying within Basco, then the tricycle could be convenient for you.

If you need to travel to Sabtang or Itbayat you need to take a motorized boat called faluwa. Ivana to Sabtang takes around 30 minutes while Basco to Itbayat takes 3 to 4 hours depending on sea condition. A faster way to reach Itbayat is by plane. CHEMTRAD, a small aircraft (around 10 seater plane) flies to Itbayat when there are enough passengers. Flight duration 10 minutes, costs P800 one way.

Within Sabtang, there is no public transportation although some visitors hire private vehicles including the services of the owner to drive them around the island. The same thing in Itbayat.
