WOW Batanes at the Pagayaya Festival

Batanes joined the Pagayaya Festival at Intramuros Manila on August 2-4, 2003 to present its "best of bests" of performers in the recently celebrated 220th Batanes anniversary.

Batanes' participation in the Best of the Regions Festival featured local products, culture and tradition and to advertise the Singing Ivatan Leaders in a choral rendition.

The spirit of Payuhwan in kapayvahay, the kalusan in kapangalagal, the Palu-palu (a war dance) were the attractions that were featured by the Ivatans (natives of Batanes).

Food tasting of Ivatan delicacies and native cuisine "found only in Batanes" were also offered.

The Pagayaya Festival was organized by the Department of Tourism to promote its Visit Philippines 2003 project.
