Class '86 Grand Reunion in Ivana, Batanes last May 5 to 6, 2007.
It was our delayed class reunion as originally it was scheduled for summer
of 2006 supposedly on our 20th year. However, circumstances moved the
date to this year and hence ...
It was an occasion worth remembering. During our first day, we toured
Batan, had picture taking at "marlboro country", lunch at Valugan
in Mahatao and had of course, the "happy hour" (as usual) at
the park in Ivana.
On our second day, we offered mass for the special intention of our class
including prayers for the soul of our departed classmates (e.g. +Generosa
Cabalce, George Cabuco, Jose Dostilla Jr. and Sarah Gabilo). After mass,
we had the usual picnic at the Honesty Cafe, had a meaningful impromptu
program with short speeches from our past teachers (Mrs. Dela Isla (our
adviser for all our four-year stay in Ivana Branch) Mr. Nick Aguto, Mr.
Lucio Aumentado, Mrs. Zita Asantor, Mrs. Vangie Agudo, Mrs. Beth Asantor
& Mrs. Orencia Valenciano). We had great time reminiscing jokes and
unforgetable high school anecdotes with our teachers.
We remember our "balarila" with then Ms. Zita Yap (now Mrs.
Asantor), the BIVOAC with Mr. Aguto, our shop projects with Mr. Aumentado,
our home economics class with then Ms. Beth Hernandez, our algebra class
and the "Borderline" dance with Ms. Vangie Agudo, and of course,
countless memories with Mrs. Dela Isla (our adviser for four years) including
our rigodon de honor, the gardening at payaman, and our payuhuan sprees
which led us to work in fields in Uyugan and etc.. etc.. We had the best
times and laughs remembering those days.
After the short program, the videoke dance and sing affair highlighted
our reunion. We had the greatest time watching classmates (the most silent
ones in class during our high school days) sing at the top of their voices
and dance on top of tables and chairs. It was really fun! We would have
wanted to extend to another week.
We hope to see everyone during our next reunion come May 2011.
