Ivatan Key Official Abroad Taps Donors

Honorable Teresita Barsana, widow of Aris Barsana, was very instrumental in negotiating for donating to upgrade Health Delivery Services in Batanes.

A van of donations from Holland was turned over by Cong. Florencio Abad to the Batanes General Hospital Chief Dr. Epifanio Pagalilauan, to Pedro Castillo, Provincial Health Officer and Dr. Roel Nicolas Chief of the Itbayat Emergency Hospital by Cong. Florencio Abad on September 22, 2000. These are donations of wheel chairs, hospital beds, etc. negotiated by an Ivatan, a consul based in Holand, from retired Dutch citizens.

When Hon.T. Barsana, came to Batanes and had the chance of visiting the Batanes Hospital she saw what facilities are needed by our hospital. Another van is yet to come and accordingly there will be third batch. Health services shall be upgraded through these facilities. Thus staff and patients experience a common degree of satisfaction.
