 Manila Bay Tragedy - 11.11.2002
Laoag Air crashed on Nov. 11, 2002 shortly after take off on its way to Laoag and Basco. Onboard: 29 passengers and 5 crew. 15 survived (some in critical condition) and 19 are confirmed dead. Above is an undated photo of Laoag Air on one of its flight to Basco.

Flash Floods in Batanes
Flood control in Barangay San Antonio (Diptan), Basco, hardest hit by the February 22, 2001 flash floods. Tremendous landslides, paved trees and logs with flood thus worsened the situation, blocking its flood control and threatened lives. The House of Dakay
The House of Dakay: Constructed of lime and stone in 1887, by Luisa Estrella, who bequeathed it to her favorite nephew, Jose Dakay Estrella. One of only 5 structures that withstood the frightful earthquake of September 13, 1918, which totally levelled the town of Ivana to the ground.
