For Whom the Gun
Fires
Hail to him who invented the gun;
With guns our fathers gained this land,
Which our militias saved from outside foe.
Guns fire justly at our nation's foe.
Woe to him who runs afoul
And hurries away to stalk about.
Our law's long arm soon comes around
At the fugitive, gunfire justly abound.
No gun for the felon who's on the list,
Nor for him who can't rightly keep,
Nor for the minor too young to fire.
By them, guns indeed unjustly fire.
Guns fire not at spouse in domestic strife,
Nor at their kids innocent of the strife,
Nor at children in school or afield.
From guns misfired they cry for shield.
For owners shield and for those injured
Motor vehicles are listed and insured;
People cry, "So let it be with guns,"
Then misfiring of guns be gone.
