Basco at Dawn
By: Jean Cabal (The Batanes Chronicle 1981)
| I see
the stars |
| |
glitter
through towering trees |
| |
|
| I feel
the dawn |
| |
cool
the morning breeze
a distant lamplight,
flickers in the twilight
and I could sense the smile
of a true and a faithful friend
exuding warmth like the sunbeam
that melts away the gloom
around my ancient home. |
| |
|
| Slowly
now |
| |
the stars are fading
like the lamplight on the hillside
and by the cock's clarion call,
the dawn of a new day
just can't be far away.
