RA 8854 and 8855 Okayed by Estrada

Two new laws were signed by Pres. Estrada on August 22, 2000 regarding the conversion of Batanes Polytechnic College Uyugan Annex into Batanes General Comprehensive High School and the conversion of the Batanes Nat'l High School into Batanes Nat'l Science High School. Cong. Abad share us the joys for the successful passage of these measures.

All of our high schools in Batanes are now nationalized by law:

Itbayat has Itbayat Nat'l Agricultural High School
Sabtang has Sabtang Nat'l School of Fisheries
Uyugan, a General Comprehensive High School
Ivana, Ivana Nat'l High School
Mahatao, Mahatao Nat'l High School
Basco - Batanes Nat'l Science High School (former BNHS) and a Science and Technology High School (former BSAT)

The remaining task, Abad said, is the conversion of Batanes Polytechnic College into Batanes State College of Science and Technology. Cong. Abad is happy to inform us that the bill for this conversion has passed the House and is now in the Senate.
