Rehabilitation of Basco Waterworks gets P22M Funds

The rehabilitation of Basco Water System is funded at P22M indicative of its major damages. Since the late July 16, 2000 earthquake, water cut off is still a basic need barrier. Rehabilitating moves is hampered by unpredictable falling boulders making it risky and therefore unsafe for laborers, another is the incomplete construction materials due to small sea vessels to ferry the volume of materials needed and the weather conditions that prevent laborers to work continuously.

The 15M was readily approved by Pres. Estrada upon the request of Cong. Abad during Estrada's State visit last September. Estrada invited Abad to join him in Washington DC for two weeks. (PIA, Batanes)
