H. Special Health Programs
This had put in place during 1999 with free blood typing for a total of
896 and free screening tests for diabetes and 76 others.
On the whole, the health of the people in the province had improved remarkably
with improved medical services now made available to people even in far-flung
barangays.
Social Welfare Services:
The Social Welfare &Development Office sought to carry out its mandate
to develop, adopt, facilitate and perform it's functions thru its programs
and various services and to continuously upgrade the quality of services.
PSWDO personnel had to attend several trainings which include community
welfare structure development, disaster preparedness and management ,
strategic planning and similar others which were mostly held at the regional
office in Tuguegarao, Cagayan.
Several consultative meetings were also conducted nationwide by DSWD,LUG
in various workshops with the administration's social reform agenda lead
agencies, CIDDS evaluations, community assessment and community-based
poverty mapping and in providing pre-marriage counselling to over fifty
(50) couples.
One vital role of the PSDWDO is extending a social welfare services to
the underprivileged and about 30 impoverished families were given assistance
in the AICS program, disaster relief funds from the provincial government,
and DSWD regional office. Three (3) mentally disturbed individuals were
also given especial assistance, referred to the DSWD and these were eventually
referred to the national center for mental health for proper medical attention.
The PSWD also indorsed a total of 32 projects to the DSWD regional office
for funding consideration.
