PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT CONFERS 2002 AWARDS

As a highlight of the 219th Founding Anniversary of Batanes, the Provincial Government conferred awards of recognition to Ivatans and non-Ivatans who have contributed to the Province's development efforts during the Culminating Program held at the Aquino Grandstand on 26 June 2002.

The awardees are:Undersecretary Fe Agudo Hidalgo of the Department of Education for her leadership and achievement as a teacher, educator and leader; Ex-Mayor Ignacio C. Villa, for having endeavored the free use of his motorboat during the apprehension of a Taiwanese vessel and its crew; Mr. Rogelio F. Luis, Vocational School Administrator of the Sabtang National School of Fisheries, for his vision and leadership which earned SNSF the title of "Most Effective Secondary School in Region 02" for the Technical-Vocational Category; P/SSupt Victor Acio Oao, PNP Provincial Director, for his active crusade against drug abuse and in promoting peace, order and stability; Dir. Baldovino AB. Valdez of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, for having strengthened the capabilities of Local Government Units during his tenure as Provincial Director of DILG-Batanes; Dir. Ethelwado A. Andres of the Department of Public Works and Highways - PMO Rural Water Supply Unit, for his effective implementation of water supply and sanitation projects; Engr. Lorenzo S. Marcelo and Engr. Reynold P. Bulseco of the National Power Corporation, Small Power Utilities Group and Northern Luzon Operations Division, respectively, for their genuine concern and action in providing an efficient power supply to the people of Batanes, and Dir. Gumersindo D. Lasam of the Department of Agriculture - Region 02 for his contributions to the agriculture sector.

The Guest of Honor, Judge Jimmy Henry F. Luczon, was recognized for his commitment to solve the diplomatic irritant-illegal entry and poaching by foreign nationals, through his adherence to the laws and pursuit for justice.

On this significant occasion, the Provincial Government also awarded the OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE of the year to two dedicated employees who have exemplary dedication to local governance and public service, Mr. Gregorio C. Gabaldon of the Provincial General Services Office and Mr. Napoleon A. Valones of the Provincial Veterinary Office.
