Castillo, Region II Best in History

Maridel Aberilla Castillo, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Pedro Castillo of Basco, Batanes, won First Place in the Regional Level Quiz Bee in Philippine History Category held at Linao Cagayan High School in Tuguegarao, Cagayan on October 28, 1999.

Being a Regional Champion, Castillo represented Region 02 in the National Quiz Bee which was held in Subic, Olongapo City on November 26, 1999. She was adjudged the 4th placer among 15 contestants in the National Competition.

Castillo is one of those who have made a name for Batanes and for Region II. She is a grade VI pupil in the school of the future (SOF) class at Basco Central School.

This is the first time Batanes copped the regional championship in the Quiz Bee contest since the province joined the quiz Bee in 1978.

We salute Maridel for her outstanding achievement. Kudos to the champion coach, Mrs. Jane Bidayan.
