Honouring the memories and celebrating their
lives.
Domingo Cabcaben Delatado. Lolo passed away last December 14,
2006 three days before his 102nd birthday on December 17, 2006. He died
peacefully at home in Ivana after he was blessed, conveyed absolution,
anointed with Holy Oil, and given Holy Communion by Rev. Fr. Brigido
Casas then Parish Priest of Ivana. We say peacefully since he waited
for all the needed sacraments to be received before he joined his Maker.
When he left us, all his children who were here in Batanes were beside
him together with his wife Lola Carmen and us his grandchildren. We
were saddened by his death for we will never see his smiles again, we
will never be able to hear his entertaining jokes and stories again
but then as we saw him at peace before he finally lost his last breath
our sadness vanished and we thought of the brighter hope and truth that
our Almighty awaits Him in his eternal glory.

Alberta
Horbino de Sagon-Gato (June 7, 1917 - April 16, 2007) of Itbayat,
married to the late Bartolome Gato and the mother of the Batanes governor,
Hon. Vicente DS Gato, died at home in Quezon City after having been
practically wholly home-confined for about more than 30 years due to
an apparent failed eye operation.
Mrs. Celerina DS Gato-Hondonero had taken the brunt of home-caring the
deceased. Kudos to the patient and loving care of Celerina! Her role
must have been destined by God. She was a widow and lived in the Philippines
unlike all her sisters who could well help financially and did so. The
only son, Vicente, paid visits, provided housing accommodation, extended
financial aid, and gave personal services to a limited degree compared
to Celerina's. Well, the governor was busy with the concerns of the
government in the Philippine Navy then and the people of Batanes. The
deceased is survived by her children: Aurora DS Gato-Reblando, Catalina
DS Gato-Gonzales, Celerina DS Gato-Hondonero and Vicente plus several
grandchildren.
Prayers for the heavenly repose of Alberta's (a.k.a. Nitang) soul and
continuing blessings for her bereaved are fervently requested.
